What the heck have I been doing?

...and how did a week go by?  Let's see.  We went to Edmonton.  So did 50 million other people.  Stores were insane.  Had to stay in a hotel in Sherwood Park (just outside of Edmonton)... because everything was full.  See, everyone had the same idea as us.  Nice.  Drove home in a snow storm.  Fun.  And have sat on the couch doing pretty much nothing since! he heeeeeee  Kidding.  Sort of.  Been watching Season 7 of Gilmore Girls on DVD... I think I am going to start them over when I am done.

I have just been in a 'blah' mood lately...  finally getting over that though!

We set up Laine's art table that I picked up at Ikea while in Edmonton.  So... picture it with a dark black/brown table top... that is what it is supposed to be.  But I am a bad solo Ikea shopper (desperately needed my wingman) lol  Love you babe.  ;-)

I found the table tops down in self serve.  Found the right colour.  Top box had a hole in it... so I didn't want to take chances with a hole in the desk... so I went down 3 boxes.  Didn't compare item #'s.  Got home... wrong colour.  GRRRR!  Sooooo, table top will be replaced soon! lol  James cut the legs down so it was mini just for her...

Cute huh?

Oh, and we need to order another chair (wanted to have one on each side of the table)... bought the display model and they aren't getting any more until June.  Oh well, at least she has her own space... and I have my own space back! he heeeeee

Not much else new!  Worked on 2Peas stuff all day.  Doing the decorating the house thing tomorrow... outside lights and everything!  Should be fun!

The truck is packed up and...

I am heading out the door on a last minute adventure!

Overnight shopping trip!  My first solo trip with both my munchkins!  4 hours there today.  4 hours back tomorrow!

Wish me luck! he heeeeeee

A bunch of random things...

Random Thing #1 - I watched Pushing Daisies all day yesterday.  I had been recording the episodes since the season started... but haven't got the chance to watch them yet.  I am hooked.  I love it.

Untitled

Seriously cool.  It is like a grown up candy land!  The colours, the characters... I just love it all!  Yep, I started watching it yesterday morning... and before I knew it, Laine was home from school!  Yikes!  It is soooo funny, and sad at the same time... I love the over the top narrating! he heeeee  Oh my gosh, I just love it... I feel like I have been missing out all this time!  It is just... yummy.

Random Thing #2 - I am going to scrapbook today.  yay!

Random Thing #3 - I want to set up our Christmas decorations.  All of it.  The tree... everything.  I want to get lights and light up our house in pretty little lights... I want to make things!  I want to make cards!  I don't know why I am feeling the need to do it already... but I have the itch!  We usually wait until December, but I don't think I can hold out! lol

Random Thing #4 - I am watching last night's episode of Pushing Daisies right now. he heeeee

Random Thing #5 - I need to get my hair cut.

Random Thing #6 - Laine got pulled aside at skating last night and got taught some new stuff.  We were sitting there watching, nervous for her... and James says "that was a jump!" ...yep, she got taught a jump.  So proud of her.

Random Thing #7 - I wish I was a better online shopper.  Shopping where we live, well... it sucks.  I want to be a better online shopper.  Christmas shopping would almost be done if I was... but I am such a touchy feely type person, I need to see it, and pick it up... I need to get over that! lol

Random Thing #8 - Harley needs to go down for a nap, so I will be back in a minute to finish this post! ha ha

Random Thing #9 - I am thinking 10 random things might be too many.

Random Thing #10 - Have I said yet how much I love Pushing Daisies?

Warning... birthday photo overload ahead!

I would have to say the party went pretty good!  They had fun with the cooking and cupcakes, enjoyed the scrapbooking (although it might have been a bit too long), and kept themselves busy the rest of the time... and only a few fights! lol  Yep, nothing quite like 6 year old girls!

I think she had a good time... and I hope her friends did too!  This was our first 'friend' birthday party... the first one with kids from school... I sooooo did not know what to expect! lol  In the end, I would have to say it was a success.

...and I could have slept all day yesterday!

How is it Friday already?

This is crazy!  I swear, the long weekend has messed up this week... big time!  It does not feel like it should be Friday!  I am heading to town to go party supply shopping... balloons, cupcake stuff, sprinkles, craft stuff, ice cream, pizza stuff (they are making their own mini pizzas)... and the list goes on and on and on!  I can't believe she turns 6 tomorrow!  6 seems so much older than 5.  She is soooo excited though!  She was reading my shopping list this morning before school, then adding... "I need party hats!"  Oh boy. lol

I am procrastinating a little here.  Truck is running, diaper bag is packed... but my boy is still sleeping.  I hate waking him up.  Seems unfair!

Here are a few pages I did for the 2Peas midmonth garden...

This one was fun.  Lots and lots of fun!  Why not do a page all about my love for Ikea?  I was inspired to do the page after seeing melsboys awesome Ikea layout

This one is for the blurry photo theme again.  One of my all time favourite blurry photos!

Carousal

Yikes... ok, gotta go wake that boy up!  I have to make cupcakes today too... can I have a few more hours for my day please? he heeeeeee

WOW!

How did this happen?

How is he growing up so fast?

He pushed himself up onto his feet yesterday.  He is only 7 months!  Is this normal?  Seriously, I forget when Laine did it for the first time!  It just seems early... maybe 'cause he is my baby.  It seems to happen over night.  Seems like he was just rolling over for the first time!

...looking back at daddy.

I don't think I am ready for him to be doing this!  Emotionally ready that is! he heeee

snow snow snow... and not much else happening

Snow started to fall last week.  I like snow.  Right now anyway.  It makes everything pretty!  So, when you still have dirt for a lawn, snow is much much nicer to look at! lol

Friday, it snowed like crazy!  HUGE big snowflakes... and fast.  There was a little bit of snow on the ground when Laine left for school in the morning.  This was her when she got of the bus that afternoon...

Dsc_3691a_2

She started at the bottom of the driveway.  She pushed this thing till it was this big... going UP a hill!  This is where it stayed.  I heard the bus and went to make sure it was her.  Went back to doing whatever it was I was doing.  Then I realized like 10 minutes had passed!  Usually she is in the door within minutes!  This was what I saw!  Makes you remember how much more FUN snow is when you are a kid!

Poor little man can't go out quite yet...

Dsc_3784a_3

He sat there and watched her... and giggled and giggled!  She would throw snow up in the air and he would burst into laughter!  Soooooo funny!

Laine's birthday is coming up on Saturday.  She is turning 6!  She is having a 'cooking and crafting' party.  We are going to do mini pizzas and decorate cupcakes and then we are going to make little mini scrapbooks!  I am going to take pictures of the girls while they are doing the 'cooking' part and then print them off for them.  Hopefully it goes ok!  I might need a nap at the end, but other then that it should be ok!

Here are the invitations I made.  I used Cherie's Stuff Jane Loves Kit!  Some cute cute stuff in there!  On the invitations Laine handed out, the kids name is printed under the name part... this is an extra I made for Laine to keep.

Not much going on here today.  Long weekend, so we are just hanging out.  James is out working on the garage, at this moment Harley is mad at some toy (or possibly because I plopped him down in front of the toy after I took the DVD cover away), and Laine is playing in the toy room... eating some smarties.  Yesterday we started our Spider-Man marathon.  We finally got to the third one (which we haven't seen)... decided to watch it in bed... only to discover that the bedroom DVD player crapped out since the last time we used it!  So what do we do?  After finally getting to the third one?  We watch tv instead.  Yep, too tired and lazy to go back downstairs to watch the DVD!  ha ha  Hopefully tonight!  If we can stay up past 9pm that is! lol

I think I am just going to give it to her today...

A diary.  She looooooves to write stories, and she has this little book that she uses... but it is almost full.  I don't know why I decided to make one.  Yesterday I sat down at my desk...  just wanting to make something.  I didn't know what, I just wanted to play.  This is what I ended up with...

Dsc_3647a

I still had all the goodies out from the last layout I made.  So I just went with it...  The cover is made of chipboard.  I had some 8.5x11 sheets here, so I cut it down to 5x7, and sewed the paper right onto it.  I used the Martha Stewart punch for the holes along the side.

...and key rings for the binding.  Yes, that is all I could find... and yes, I only had 2! LOL  Oh well, it works!  ;-)  I tried ribbon first, but the pages didn't turn easily at all.

Dsc_3646a

Getting the pages into the key rings was a bit tricky... but it works awesome!

I added her school picture from this year for her... and left a spot for her to add her name and age.

Dsc_3650a

I put in some sticker sheets for her.  Little girls looooove their stickers right?  I actually printed the 'my stickers' on a transparency... this way she can peel her stickers off again if she wants too!

Dsc_3652a

Dsc_3653a_2

I stuck in some of these sheets so she can add some photos...

Dsc_3655a

The diary consists of mostly blank journaling pages...

Dsc_3657a

I also add some blank pages that say 'draw and colour' in the bottom corner, no picture of that one though.  The edges of the sheets are all inked blue...

Dsc_3662a

I hope she likes it!  It was sooooooo fun to make!  ...and if she fills it up, we will take it apart and add more sheets!  lol... probably need to find something other than the keyrings for binding though! he heeeeeeee

The journaling paper is printed from Rhonna's Peachy Keen kit.  And the awesome cloud paper and polka dots are printed from Jennifer Pebbles' Fresh Forest kit.  Fun fun stuff!

Heading to town for groceries... oh yay me.  LOL, can you tell I would soooo rather be doing something else?  Better go shower and stuff while Harley is snoozing.

Both my munckins were up at 5am today!  What the heck is up with that?!  Harley finally went back to sleep less than an hour ago and Laine didn't go back to sleep at all!  Poor girl, it is such a long day today too.. both skating and hip hop tonight!  Should be interesting! ;-)

We have a winner!

YAY!

After explaining to Laine exactly how this was going to work (because she needed to know every detail! lol), and that she didn't actually have to 'draw' a name (like with a pen)... we have a winner!

Meredith!

Dsc_3682a

Email me your address and I will send one out to you! :-)

Thank you everyone for playing along!  I had soooooo much fun reading your comments!  Now don't be shy... cause I know you are out there! ;-)

I was going to post some pictures of a journal I made for Laine today.  But I think I am going to give it to her as part of her birthday present... and she is sitting behind me scrapbooking, so it will have to wait until tomorrow I suppose.

I hope everyone is having a great day!  Thank you all again, this was a blast!!  :-)

HOLY SMOKES!

How fun is this?!

Just wanted to post quick and let you know that I am going to get Laine to draw a name when she gets home from school.  She should be home in about an hour... then I will print off the comments, cut them up and put them in something!

Heeee heeeeeeee, I can't wait!

Hi everyone!  I am so glad you all posted!  :-)

...comments are still open! You can post below until the munchkin is home! :-)
