twelve thousand fruits and fifteen thousand seal bites

Laine tonight.. on the subject of her Tinkerbell toothpaste.  I had to write it down, I figured this was as good a place as any! hee heee!  Love my girl!  

Her "Is it ok if I use Harley's toothpaste?"

Me "yes, I suppose so."

Her "Good, I have been using it for a few days now.. it tastes like yummy fruit."

Me "Does it?  What does yours taste like?"

Her "Like pixie dust mixed with about 12,000 fruits that I don't like!  ..I don't even like plums!"

Her "I've never had plums before.. but I know they would be gross."

I looooove the '12,000 fruits I don't like' part... priceless.  Apparently hers is a little too fruity.. oh and a little like pixie dust too... and plums?  Not too sure where they fit in, but I suppose they do! heee!

Ohhhhh and this little tidbit from yesterday, on the subject of a scratch on her leg...

Her "It hurts so bad.  Like 15,000 seal bites!"  

Heeee!  Gosh I love her so much!  Large numbers for emphasis I think.  But seal bites!?  I have always known she had a wonderful imagination. heee! 

Must do this more often!  I like it.. part of the reason I started the blog in the first place!  Ohhh the things they say.. I could have numerous blog posts a day! ha ha!

time to tune it up daddy

Time to service it up and get it ready for the season.. they are ready and waiting! hee heee!

Just need to tie back that wild hair, and throw them some helmets!  For now though.. I think they are more than happy pretending in the driveway. Except it didn't take long before they were fighting over who got to push the button.  Nice.  Actually, this might have been the start of it.. I think Laine is guarding it with her hand already. ha ha!

Before anyone (mother) thinks I am nuts for allowing my children to get in this thing.. it is seriously slower than slow.  I can run faster.. and I don't like to run, so that has gotta tell you somethin'! heee! ;)

Got a busy scrappin' day ahead, can't wait to dive in and get crafty for the day!  Yay!  Later! :)

blog makeover!

Woweeeee, I finally did it!  Blog makeover is almost complete!  I figured I should pop on here before I head to bead.. just because I have stared at this blog for enough hours today... it only seems right that I say goodnight. hee heee!

It was time for a change.  I loooooved my old blog design so much though, and the heart balloons that miss Laine created.. precious to me.  I think they will find there way back on here again somewhere. ;)  I am having separation anxiety already. ha ha!

So yeah.. new blog... hoping this reflects me, I think it does.. for now.  Not quite finished yet, still need to tweak some things.. and finish the columns up... linking is time consuming I tell ya!

school is out!

Summer vacation has officially started.  Today looks a little like this..

Tunes cranked... and I do me cranked!  As loud as her iPod dock will go is what she told us. hee!  I think this particular dance move was to Barbie Girl by Aqua.  Oh yes.  I was down in the office, listening to her and her brother thump on the floor above.. ran up with my camera, and out of over 100 pictures.. this was the best I got.  Nothing about this photo is right.. except for her... perfect.  Yep, definitely the perfect way to begin summer vacation!

so, I had this desk...

And then I got a new desk.  So we put the old desk in storage... well, in the corner of the unfinished 'man room' of the basement.. at one point, James was going to use it in his garage/shop... then we offered it to my sister in law.. but she couldn't take it right away... so there it sat, out of sight out of mind.  In the back of my mind, I kept thinking that someday, a desk would be perfect for Laine in the playroom.. not that desk in particular.. just any desk.  Because.. technically I already gave that one away right?

One day, I got really bored.  Like I mean, really really bored.  I walked by the playroom, and Laine was sitting in the middle of a huge heap of toddler/little boy toys... looking equally as bored.  She is usually really good about the playroom, she understands that most of her toys are up in her room.. safe away from her brothers little hands... and she never really has a problem playing with her brother in 'their' playroom.  Far from it usually.  Well, I had walked by.. and she had this super sad look on her face... I asked her what was wrong, and she just looked at me and said "I have nothing to do in here."  I suggested she go play with her toys in her room.. but with her, that is sooo easier said than done.  She likes to be around us.. likes to be around her brother in the playroom.  So, the wheels got turning.  

At first I was trying to figure out where I could find a cheap desk.  Then, *ah ha* ..there is a desk right around the corner!  But it technically isn't my desk anymore.  What to do what to do!?  Well, boredom took over... along with the need to organize and move things around (that ever happen to anybody else? ha ha).. so I explained to Laine, the circumstances around the desk.. and we decided to put it in there for now.. instead of collecting dust in the unused man room.  Win win right?

This made my girl very very happy.. the girl who loves arts and crafts (and her beloved Webkinz and other such internet toys) more than anything.  Her own craft/computer station.. her very own space, in a sea of trucks, trains, cars.. etc!  Now they can hang out and play together.. and each do their own thing!  After rearranging stuff, and moving some of her stuff out of my scraproom (mostly just colouring books and stuff like that.. her craftier stuff stayed in the scraproom, so we can still have our crafting time together).. this ended up being the perfect thing for her.  

Especially when she has a forgiving and understanding Auntie like she does.  Toni.. I owe you big. ;)

quilted list taker.. teacher gift

So, after 2 trips to town.. one last night and one this morning... I finally had all of the supplies I needed to make this little notebook cover.  Not too sure WHY it took me 2 trips, but it did!  Good grief! 

I had so much fun making this!  I can't sew worth a darn, but fudged my way through it.. and I think it turned out ok!  Well, that bottom edge could have been a bit straighter ha! ..oh well! hee heee!  I bought the pattern from here, after seeing the talented miss gluestickgirl make them here!  Totally worth the purchase.. the instructions are super easy to follow, and I (again) want to make one for everyone I know! hee!  Ohhh what I could do with a few more hours in my day. ha ha!

The inside of the cover has pockets that hold a legal pad and a pen or pencil.. along with an empty one that can hold receipts or whatever else.  Super cute!  There are more pictures of what they can look like.. both inside and out... here. :)

Laine's last day of school is tomorrow, although she brought home her report card and a huge bag of goodies today.  Her report card was so awesome!! ...and the bag of goodies (badminton stuff, beach ball, jump ropes etc.. crazy amount of stuff!) was an award for reading the most books this year.. 710! ..every 2 chapters of a chapter book count as 1 entry.  Super proud of my girl!  We sure are going to miss her teacher next year, it really was a great year for Laine.  

End of the year excitement here today.. although, I am not too sure who is more excited for school to be out... her or me!? ha ha!  Now I have to train my children to sleep in past 7am.  Yeah right!  ..wishful thinking?

Everyday.. sometimes several different times a day... you really can find an assortment of cars, lined up somewhere around the house.  Today however, is the first time he has done it upside down.  Future abstract artist? ha ha!

Uncle Ty if you happen to read this.  Laine 'accidentally' brought home the pink cadillac when we came home from visiting last.  Although, I think she had been eyeing this particular part of your collection for a few years now.. so I don't think it was really an accident.  Now, it resides on her dresser... unless her brother steals it.. and then you can find it lined up with assorted other cars, in any location of the house... like in front of my computer. hee heee!  I think I need to find you a replacement.. cause I don't think you will get this one back. Luv ya!

little things made of felt are soooo cute!

Gettin' to that time of year again.. end of the school year... come up with creative teacher/bus driver gifts time of year.  I thought I had until next Thursday.. Laine's last day of school.  Yep, almost one whole week.  Turns out, her bus driver will be gone from the 22nd on.. so today was the last day Laine would see her this year.  Ahhh!  I was going to make them this little project... bought the pattern months ago, yes.. to get it done waaay ahead of time.. who was I kidding? ha!

Time for a backup plan.  I started cruising the net (shucks darn it) in pursuit of a cute and easy thing for us to make.  Then I remembered I had bought this book a few months ago.  Brought it home and put it in my bookshelf and kind of forgot about it.. ooops! ha ha!  Last night, I grabbed it out to flip through it and saw some little car keychains!  Perfect!  Except they were cars.. and a bus would be so much better!  So I modified the pattern a little, squared of the back, and added some windows... now it is a bus! hee heee!  Laine decorated a gift tag and we called it done!  

I want to make a cute little keychain for everyone I know! heee!  So fun (and easy)!!

hello mac (true blood and delicious summer drinks too) hee!

Before I begin.. I think I should probabl remind ou that m keboard is broken, and I am too laz to go to the laptop.. or to bring the laptop to me... which makes me sound reall reall laz doesn't it? ha ha!  So eah, there is a letter broken.. I figure, mabe if I have to deal with this, mabe I will actuall get m butt to the store to pick up a replacement! ha!  For those who don't know.. and are mabe wondering wh I can't spell, (heee) I spilled a drink on m keboard the other da... ice cubes and all. ugh ugh ugh.  Mabe everone will get a kick out of having to read this.. and if not, well... m apologies. :)

Quick post toda.  I am going to run to the store to get the fixings for a nice lunch of nachos and baked cheese dip for lunch, and it is alread after lunch technicall.. so I better get a move on! heee!

 

Have ou ever tried these ummalicious (good grief.. see, must get a replacement here... this is just nuts ha ha!) drinks?  These are definitel a favourite treat around here!  James likes these cappuccino ones the most, but I prefer the caramal and french vanilla ones.. um um um! (ha)  So good.  Summer beverages are great aren't the?  We want to tr blending them with ice for sort of a frappuccino tpe effect... now how great would that be!?

Last night, we put the railing back up on the veranda, put the kids to bed and had a few of these while watching season 1 of True Blood on DVD.  So so sooo addicted b the wa! (to the show, not the drinks lol)   The amount of nakedness in it was a little shocking at first (ha ha).. don't remember 'quite' that much of it in the book (although, I have onl read the first one, so mabe the all get a little more naked as the books go on?)... HBO for a huh?  Love Anna Paquin as Sookie!  Actuall.. I like how all of the characters transitioned to the show... not bad at all!  That is one of the things that drives me nuts most of the time.. characters not being anthing like the are in the book... that is wh I insist on reading before watching.  Drives James nuts most of the time I think... waiting for me to get through a book before we can watch something! lol

And, of course... since I usuall seem to have to do 'something' while watching TV.. I did a little scrapbooking.

Journaling reads.. 'I wonder if I am the onl one who opened up photo booth as soon as the new mac was up and running?' and then at the bottom, 'Laine and me... mac newbies'  Digi kits are from 2 Peas, and can be found here and here.  This was one of the onl photos on m laptop last night.. and for some reason the computers weren't networking properl... so, photo booth picture it was! ha ha!

Anhoo.. some boring ramblings from me toda... better get going and figuring out some lunch!  Sorr about the horrific tping.  ugh.
