I think this kitchen update has started something! hee! I am now looking around the house wondering what I can paint next! Nothing is safe! It is so amazing what a difference a little bit of paint can make.. such a cheap way to bring new life to something!
Here are some (ok a lot of) pics from around the kitchen and dining room.. the dining room kind of got an overhaul too... and I have some fun plans for it, yet to come of course!
I finally (and I do mean finally) put something up on the kitchen window! We have been in this house since 2006 and I had yet to figure out what to put up there. So I ignored it. Perfect solution for the girl who can't make up her mind.. cheap $8 bamboo blind! ha ha!
The paint is seriously yummy, it is so calming and relaxing.. and fun! Love it!
I love these prints I ordered a while ago from vol25 on etsy.. soooo fun for a kitchen! Letters made from forks and knives.. soooo cute!
Painting above the pantry was loooooads of fun. ha ha! It was just Harley and I home while I was painting.. he was busy playing at the table and I was on a roll! I got up the ladder, used the fridge as a boost and got up on top.. immediately thought OMG I am not going to be able to get down. Regretted not bringing the phone up to phone James to come home and help me. Tried to figure out how I could get Harley to bring me the phone.. then I shook it off, talked some sense into myself.. finished painting up there (cause really.. the worrying could wait until I really did have to get down right).. but I got over my fear of coming down ladders (it is always the coming down that is the worst.. especially when you have to lower yourself onto said ladder!) and made it down.. then had to repeat the process 2 more times for the other 2 coats of paint. ha!
The print up above the cabinets is from vol25 as well. Love her shop so much! See the new addition to the backsplash? Behind the stove there? Oh yes.. Home Depot isn't just a store that James can get into trouble in.. send me in there alone, and I am bound to find something fun! ha ha! Seriously though, I think in total it was around $40.. and such a little space makes a pretty big impact if you ask me.. I love the 'shine' it brings to the room, that little bit of extra.. ya know? Best part.. I installed it all by myself! hee! Ruined my new scissors cutting it though, it is like a thick plastic that you use adhesive/caulking gun to put on.. and yep, decided it was a good idea to use my brand new scissors to cut it (would get the nicest cleanest cut after all right!?) ..one might think to score it with a exacto knife or something.. but not me, nope.. I figured ruining my scissor was a better plan. ha! BUT, I can proudly say that I successfully put it up myself! lol
I love love love these pitchers! I treasure them. My mom found them at an estate sale.. phoned me up and told me to google them, I did and said "um yeah! of course!"
She also snagged up this matching cookware.. and fondu set as well! I love them. They are so perfect and pretty, and I definitely see the beginning of a vintage Dansk collection! Check out this colourful collection.. the aqua is calling my name I think! lol
OK, so this really is a ridiculous amount of photos right? Just a few more..
It is like the same photo over and over again though isn't it? Like I mean, I can only shoot the kitchen from so many angles.. oh well. It just makes me so happy to finally have done something I have been talking about for ages!
Well, there it is! I have pictures of the dining room too... but I am going to break that off into it's own post, I didn't really 'do' anything new to it, no paint or anything.. just rearranged, and got that rug I was talking about getting. It works a bit better now, feels like it's own room, but still part of the same.. progress! I did some thinking on the little cafe/bistro style table for the kitchen.. ahhh heck, will save that for another post too! I could ramble on all day I am sure, who would want that right!? Just call me obsessed. lol Here is a link to the before if anyone is interested. Some fresh paint, a bit of backsplash and ridiculously cheap bamboo blind later.. and I am one happy girl! ..I have 3/4 of a gallon of that pretty paint left, wonder what will be next! heeee! ;)

Would you mind sharing the source of your kitchen island?
Thanks so much!

Your kitchen looks great. I love the color of your cabinates. Do you know what color that is? I think I have the same back splash. Thanks.

okay, I'm late to the game in seeing your beautiful kitchen. I love the color scheme. Like all the others I would love to know where the island came from. It is the perfect size for my smaller kitchen.

I popped over from the Nester's site & WOW, what an amazing kitchen! You have done a wonderful job! The little island caught my eye right away because we just moved from a house with a big island to a house with no island...all along I knew this little table we have would be the perfect fit & it is! It was made by my father-in-law & the funny thing is that it is shaped a LOT like your island but without the towel bar & bottom shelf...I emailed the link immediately to my husband so he can see yours & we can make the necessary modifications. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!!
